Jessica J. Lehr, KPA CTP
Owner, Certified Animal Behavior Trainer

I am proud to be the first and only Karen Pryor certified animal behavior trainer in the Milwaukee suburban area known as Lake Country. My experience and focus goes beyond that of many traditional dog trainers, as I hold certification in broad animal species behavior conditioning; specializing in dogs, beef and dairy cows.

My background began on a family-run dairy farm in Northern Wisconsin before relocating to Lake Country over a decade ago. In 2012, I proudly served as Brand Ambassador and 2014 as Shelter Dog Training Academy volunteer at Elmbrook Humane Society. During that time, I was also involved with the Continental Whippet Alliance (CWA).

I am a 2015 graduate of the world-renowned Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior at the University of Illinois-Chicago College of Veterinary Medicine. Under the instruction of top animal behaviorists and trainers in the field, including former lead trainers from John G. Shedd Aquarium and San Diego Zoo, I completed advanced training in the use of operant conditioning with a bridge marker (clicker) to modify animal behavior.  Subsequently, I received Canine Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First-Aid certification from Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals.

I founded Lake Country Canine Connection, LLC (LCCC) in response to a vibrant, local community dog culture with the goal of promoting healthy communication between dogs and their people. Since its inception, LCCC has grown from a service that offers in-home, dog and alternate species training to providing group classes at two Wisconsin locations.

In 2016, I established a partnership with veterinary behavior consultant Dr. Brenda Juleen to provide training services at Westosha Veterinary Hospital in Salem. Later that same year, I began collaborating with Kuenzi Family Pet Hospital and Family Pet Boarding, and opened a new Waukesha location, offering group dog training classes.

I continually stay on the forefront of new developments and research in animal behavior, including attending national seminars, and I am a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT).  I have written numerous blogs, and have been featured by Karen Pryor Clicker Training.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family – husband, son and spirited Whippet, Indi, thoroughly enjoying all that beautiful Lake Country has to offer.
