My dairy farming background combined with certification in broad species behavior conditioning separate me from traditional dog trainers. I work with animals of alternate species on a case-by-case basis, specializing in domesticated dogs, beef and dairy cattle.
LIVESTOCK BEHAVIOR TRAINING SERVICES:
Growing up on a family-run dairy farm enabled me to develop a deep understanding and compassion for beef and dairy cows. I believe, that in most cases, their behavior has a social meaning and is goal oriented –good or bad.
Beef and dairy cows and other livestock animal behavior can be related to breeding, poor management practices, confinement, and lack of enrichment. Often times these animals are less used to being trained and handled. In collaboration with your animals veterinarian, I work with the animal individually using a humane, science-based system of positive communication to help them build their confidence and reach the goals of their owners, conducting case follow-up and ongoing support.
Common behavioral concerns related to cattle that I address include:
Reluctance to enter the milking parlor, pen or stall
Aggression (on a case-by-case basis)
