Dogs & Storks Educational Seminar


Dogs & Storks® is an international program for expectant families with dogs and healthcare professionals (e.g. pediatricians, obstetricians, nurses, midwives, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, doulas, veterinarians, chiropractors), offering practical education and support during pregnancy to increase dog and baby safety.

This two hour workshop is packed with vital information to help expectant parents prepare for successful dog and baby interactions before baby arrives. Topics such as recognizing the subtle language of dogs, appropriate supervision, fun and new ways to include your dog in family activities, common myths and misconceptions parents have about the family dog and much more will be covered during this fun and informative class.

Workshop key topics of discussion include: 

  • Your pregnancy and your dog

  • Must know information for expecting parents with dogs

  • Preparing for dog & baby introductions

  • Setting up your home for success and safety

  • Jealousy and acceptance of baby

  • New & fun ways to include your dog from the start in a safe way

  • Canine communication

  • Problem prevention and practical solutions

  • Ongoing support through your baby's first year

Presented by Jessica Lehr, KPA CTP, a Licensed Educator for Family Paws Parent Education Programs, Karen Pryor Certified Animal Behavior Trainer, and a mother of a young son with first-hand knowledge of the challenges families with dogs can face during early parenthood.
